Katie Kirk is a Principal at Cambridge Systematics, where she partners with state and local agencies across the U.S. on a variety of multimodal transportation initiatives. She specializes in freight and rail planning, goods movement policy, industry and market trend analysis, strategy development, and investment prioritization. Her recent work centers on complex rail and maritime planning efforts, including the ongoing Freight Rail Efficiency Study for the St. Louis-Southwestern Illinois region, a market assessment and seaport plan for the Port of Oakland, and the inaugural master plan for the Illinois International Port District (IIPD). Katie uses her unique expertise to distill highly technical analysis to decision-makers and the public, helping her clients both “get it done” and make meaningful, lasting improvements in communities across the U.S.
Prior to pivoting to a career in transportation planning, Katie spent five years working in commodity trading operations in the financial services industry.
