Lora Rensing

Director of Highways Project Implementation & Chief Engineer, Illinois DOT

Lora S. Rensing has more than 27 years of experience in the transportation and highway engineering field. Assigned to her current position in December of 2024, Rensing monitors district programs to ensure statewide uniformity of policy interpretation and compliance and to certify program coordination with federal, state, and local agencies. Prior to this role, Rensing was IDOT’s Bureau Chief of Construction for more than three years. In that capacity, Rensing directed construction policies and provided expert guidance to ensure uniform construction practices on all road and bridge projects across the state. Rensing also spent six years as the District Eight Project Implementation Engineer, during which time she successfully navigated some of the metro-east’s most challenging transportation issues. Rensing recently graduated from Executive Leadership Training conducted by AASHTO (American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials. She is a member of both the Professional Advisory Council for the Department of Civil Engineering at SIUE and the Construction Management Advisory Board at Illinois State University.
