Panos Kouvelis

Emerson Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain, Operations, and Technology at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, and Director of the Boeing Center for Supply Chain Innovation

Panos Kouvelis is the Emerson Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain, Operations and Technology in the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis and serves as the Director of The Boeing Center for Supply Chain Innovation – the university’s supply chain, process excellence, business model innovation, and technology management research center. A widely cited and top-ranked researcher, Kouvelis is known for his work on global supply chain management, risk management, supply chain finance, inventory management and operations strategy.

In 2025, Panos was inducted into the INFORMS Fellows Class of 2025 for advancing the theories and practice of global supply chains, operations management and integrated operations and financing decision-making. He has also received the MSOM Distinguished Fellow Award, which is widely regarded as the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a research scholar in the field of operations management, and the POMS Lifetime Fellow Award in recognition of lifetime intellectual contributions to the profession through research and teaching.

He has consulted on multiple topics related to supply chain and operations for several prominent companies, has more than 30 years of teaching experience, and previously served as the senior associate dean and director of executive programs at the Olin Business School.
